EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Executive Director provides strategic leadership and organizational stewardship for Carman Wellness Connections (CWC) within a shared leadership model alongside the Program Director. 


Together, they are jointly accountable to the Board, Governance & Board Relations, Organizational Strategy & Sustainability, Resource Development & Fundraising, Operations & Administration, Advocacy & Community Relations, while collaborating with the Program Director to support programs and volunteer-driven initiatives.


Hours of Work

Part-time, flexible hours; occasional evenings and weekends as needed


Compensation

$35 - $45 / hour dependent on experience & Health Spending Account


Qualifications


Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Health Science, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, Community Development or demonstrated combination of education and experience.


Considered an Asset

  • Valid MB Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a vehicle


Experience

  • Working with diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Leadership in non-profit or community-based organizations
  • Reporting to the CWC Board of Directors
  • Fundraising, grant writing, and resource development
  • Budgeting, financial reporting, and governance
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders including government and community partners


Other Requirements

  • Clear adult and child abuse registry and criminal record checks
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with office software



Responsibilities


Governance & Board Relations

  • Primarily responsible for governance and Board engagement while working collaboratively with the Program Director
  • Supports policy implementation, strategic planning, and organizational alignment with CWC’s mission, values, and priorities
  • Maintains ethical leadership practices, confidentiality, and professional boundaries


Organizational Strategy & Sustainability

  • Ensure strategic planning and long-term sustainability initiatives are in place and supported
  • Monitors organizational performance and identifies opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Supports development and maintenance of organizational systems and policies that enable program delivery and volunteer engagement


Resource Development & Fundraising

  • Grant writing and funding proposals
  • Cultivates relationships with funders, donors, and community partners
  • Supports development of diversified funding streams for sustainability


Operations & Administration

  • Ensures adequate financial management, including budgeting and resource allocation
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director in operational continuity in planning and reporting
  • Supports administrative systems and processes to facilitate programs and volunteer activities


Advocacy & Community Relations

  • Represents CWC in the community, with partners, and within regional networks
  • Promotes awareness of CWC programs, services, and impact


Professional Practice Expectations

  • Maintains confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Supports a collaborative workplace culture grounded in respect, transparency, and shared accountability
  • Participates in ongoing professional development

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Program Director provides leadership for Carman Wellness Connections (CWC) programs and community initiatives within a shared leadership model alongside the Executive Director. 


Together, they are jointly accountable to the Board for Program Leadership & Delivery, Community Engagement,  Volunteer & Working Group Coordination, Administration & Program Evaluation, Collaboration & Organizational Leadership, while collaborating with the Executive Director to support organizational strategy, governance, and resource sustainability.


Hours of Work

Part-time, flexible hours; occasional evenings and weekends as needed


Compensation

$30 - $40 / hour dependent on experience & Health Spending Account


Qualifications


Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Health Science, Community Development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considered an Asset
  • Valid MB Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a vehicle


Experience

  • Working with diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Experience in community-based program delivery and coordination
  • Leadership or coordination experience in a non-profit or community organization
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Project management or administrative experience

Responsibilities


Program Leadership & Delivery

  • Leads development, coordination, and evaluation of CWC programs and initiatives
  • Supports Working Groups and volunteers to deliver programs effectively
  • Tracks participation, outcomes, and program impact


Community Engagement

  • Build trusting relationships with community members and local organizations
  • Connect individuals and families to appropriate community resources and supports
  • Assist individuals in accessing digital tools and community services where needed


Volunteer & Working Group Coordination

  • Recruit, train, support, and retain volunteers
  • Ensure volunteers understand expectations around confidentiality, boundaries, and ethical conduct
  • Support continuity when volunteer roles change or gaps arise


Administration & Program Evaluation

  • Maintain program documentation, data tracking, and reporting
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director in operational continuity in planning and reporting
  • Support organizational communications using CWC platforms


Collaboration & Organizational Leadership

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director as part of a shared leadership team
  • Contribute to organizational planning, problem-solving, and decision-making
  • Provide leadership coverage and operational support when needed
